How to Change the Quality of A Video Embedded with ProgressAlly

By adding a custom parameter to the shortcode, you can change the quality of a video that’s embedded using ProgressAlly’s video shortcode.

Please note that this will only work if you are using Vimeo or Wistia as your video hosting options. It will not work with YouTube.

Step 1: Add Shortcode to Page

After adding the video to the page using the shortcode adder, the shortcode should look something like this:

[progressally_vimeo_video id='XXX' vimeo_id='123' width='600' height='350']

Step 2: Add the video quality parameters to the shortcode

To change the quality of the video, the following code (marked with bold):

[progressally_vimeo_video id='XXX' vimeo_id='123' width='600' height='350' additional_args="quality=360p"]

Please note that “360p” can be any of the following values:

  • 4K
  • 2K
  • 1080p
  • 720p
  • 540p
  • 360p

Step 2: Add the video quality parameters to the shortcode

To change the quality of the video, the following code (marked with bold):

[progressally_wistia_video id='XXX' wistia_id='123' width='600' height='350' additional_args="qualityMax=224&qualityMin=224"]

Please note that “224” can be any of the following values:

  • 224
  • 360
  • 540
  • 720
  • 1080
  • 3840

YouTube

Please note, once again, that if you are using YouTube to host your videos, the video quality is auto (ie. decided by the embedded player size).
